Hi Safiye, and welcome to TC.

We have several threads that touch on the subject. Please use Search (from the Main drop-down menu) and check all message forums. If you check both Subject and Body, you will get a lot of returns depending on the keywords used. Please set to 'do not limit by date'.

Happy reading,

Nanna

Hi Safiye,

I admit that a search, despite being what I usually recommend before posting, might be a bit tricky in this case if you have not followed our forums for a while. So I have picked "translation market" as the key words for the Subject line only search and got the following to keep the ball rolling:

Translation market

Is there a "slowing down" in the translation market or is it me?

How's the Japanese translation market doing?

Jacek

How about Beyond Barter?

Beyond Barter is a "skills pool" where Angelenos trade only in services, not the usual cash-based swaps that sites like Craig's List cater to. After paying a small fee, members specify how much time they're willing to give each week. What makes Beyond Barter better than bartering, according to the group's website, is that members don't have to "balance out"; they can use as many services as they want, no matter how many they give. It sounds so. . . LA, but in a good way. -- Evelyn Hampton

Hi Safiye, and welcome to TC,

As a way of getting to know you better, I'd like to ask, what do you think of the future of translation business?  Personally I think that as long as people speak different languages translation is here to stay.  The traditional marketplace is probably stronger than it appears, but it will not have a presence on the Internet and so seems not to be there.

Maxi

Hi Maxi,

Thank you very much for your answer and question. My opinion, it will be great. Especially for our language pairs. Turkey is on the way to access European Union so the workflow from English,French,German to Turkish will be great and experienced translators who have been specialized in various subjects will always be looked for. Online translation will be more important.

Thank you

Safiye TINGIR
