OPM approves early outs for letter carriers: The Office of Personnel Management has informed the Postal Service that it may offer voluntary early retirement to members of the city letter carrier craft. NALC President William H. Young said details of an early retirement agreement are being worked out and will be released once finalized.
Health Benefit Plan seminar September 28-30: NALC HBP Director Tim O'Malley announced that the special Open Season Health Benefit Seminar will be held September 28-30 at the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas. Cost-of-living adjustment will be $1,498: The next regular cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) under the 2006-2011 National Agreement will be $1,498 annually, based on the Consumer Price Index for July. Young addresses clerks: President Young spoke at the recent APWU convention in Las Vegas. "Something’s got to change, and we’ve got make it happen," Young said. "The men and women of the NALC are ready to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the men and women of the APWU to make sure that it does."
