Team CSC’s Carlos Sastre returns to his favored roads this weekend as the Tour de France turns into three decisive stages in the Pyrénées. Sastre is well positioned to make a run for the yellow jersey if he can be at his best in the hard climbs. “The most important thing now is recovery. We’ll study the GC tonight and absorb everything that’s happened and where everyone stands, then we’ll think about tomorrow,” Sastre said. “We have to be ready for tomorrow. That’s going to be a real fight.” As always, he carries two pacifiers in the back of his jersey. Sastre made headlines when he popped a baby’s pacifier in his mouth when he won atop Ax-3 Domaines in 2003. Now he has a second child and must carry an additional one in his pocket. “They’re both ready,” he said.
