Morning

  • It's a warm welcome first thing with our music programme performed by local schools and choirs
  • Why not join our special tours throughout the day for all the family
  • Enjoy screenings of our movie in the lecture theatre, The Secret Life of the Museum
  • Through the eyes of Wei T'o: discover the many transformations of the Royal Museum building in its 150 year history at this enthralling talk in the lecture theatre

Lunchtime

  • Enjoy music over a delicious lunch menu at Café Delos with Angus Lyon and Ruaraidh Campbell
  • An 'in conversation' book festival event with celebrated Edinburgh-based author Maggie O'Farrell in our lecture theatre

Afternoon

  • Another chance to see the many transformations of the Royal Museum building through the eyes of Wei T'o as our iconic collection object takes you on a journey of discovery through 150 years of history 
  • Get those feet tapping and learn some new moves with our Indian dance performance and workshop
  • Round up! Round up! It's the Big Top Glasgow workshop where you can bring the whole family and enjoy some Victorian games

Finale

  • Enjoy a rousing first day finale with a musical show by the Beeslack Community High School Taiko Drummers

All day

  • Visit our collections corner and try some object handling and watch some conservation demonstrations
  • Feeling arty? Head for our Royal Museum past, present and future art workshops! What will you create?
  • Explore the museum with our treasures trails for adults and children
  • Watch out for our roaming Victorian characters - who will you recognise?
  • Say a farewell for now to the Royal Museum building and join one of our last-chance tours led throughout the day by our volunteer guides through our collections in the Royal Museum building
  • Bring the family and take part in a badge making workshop
  • Say cheese! Bring your camera and get a chance to get up close and personal at our lions and tigers photo opportunities
  • Discover more at our Science shows in the ever-popular Connect gallery
  • Support our essential work and become a National Museums Scotland Member - information stands will be available to tell you more about how you can visit our sites and enjoy free and reduced entry to a range of special exhibitions and events throughout the year
