3/11/2008- E & THE QUEEN:
Her Royal Highness, Queen Elizabeth II, was unable to attend the recent EELS performance at London's Royal Festival Hall. EELS leader E reveals to NME that he received a letter from Buckingham Palace informing him that The Queen was unable to attend. "This is the fourth time we've played Royal Festival Hall, and I was determined to see a queen sitting in the royal box this time," says E, "so we got The Queen's lookalike, and everyone on my staff and at the hall was instructed to play along and let me have my fantasy. "We've played the Festival Hall several times and I've noticed that your royal box is usually empty. I'd like to change that," E writes in his letter to the Queen. 2/17/2008- EELS SINGING DOG QUITS; WORKING WITH LEONARD COHEN:
Fed-up with not being asked to tour with the EELS once again, EELS singing dog, Bobby, Jr. (featured on the track "Last Time We Spoke" and in the "Hey Man (Now You're Really Living)" video) has quit EELS and is now reportedly working with Leonard Cohen. In a statement, EELS leader E says: "If this is what Bobby has to do to make a point, fine. I'm a big fan of Leonard's and I'm sure they'll do great work together. 2/2/2008- NFL WON'T AIR EELS AD:
EELS had planned to advertise their new CD+DVD USELESS TRINKETS rarities collection during the Super Bowl XLII television broadcast with the world's shortest commercial. As NME reported, Super Bowl advertising time costs approximately $100,000 per second, so the EELS opted to make a 1 second commercial. Unfortunately, as EELS leader E reports, "In the end we were told that the NFL would have to find 29 other advertisers to buy 1 second spots to fill a standard 30 second advertising slot and that they do not sell advertising time by the second. They also noted that a rapid fire 30 second segment of thirty 1 second commercials could cause people with certain medical conditions to have seizures and that it was against network regulations." EELS leader E made his first public appearance in nearly a year at Sunday night's Lucinda Williams show at the El Rey Theater in Los Angeles. E joined Lucinda, sometimes EELS drummer Butch, and all around EELS handyman The Chet for Lucinda's "Fancy Funeral," as well as "Sixteen Tons" and "Railroad Man."

4/16/2007- EELS THE THIRD:
Hear the new "Royal Pain" by EELS in "Shrek The Third," opening in U.S. theaters May 18th. "Royal Pain" and EELS' "Losing Streak" will both be on the Shrek The Third soundtrack album CD, coming out May 15th in the U.S. and Canada, May 14th in the rest of the world.
