Theraputic Massage
Therapeutic massage releases chronic tension held in the body and facilitates cleansing and detoxification of the tissues and breakdown of adhesions through the effective application of specialized techniques. Regular deep tissue massage results in great muscle tone, increased mobility and reduction or elimination of physical tension. Relaxation massage is more than a treat; it is a health-promoting practice that can be included in anyone’s life. Broad, firm, yet gentle strokes ease tension out of muscles, improve circulation, and relax the mind.

Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage is a type of massage therapy that focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. It is especially helpful for chronically tense and contracted areas such as stiff necks, low back tightness, and sore shoulders. Some of the same strokes are used as classic massage therapy, but the movement is slower and the pressure is deeper and concentrated on areas of tension and pain. How does deep tissue massage work? When there is chronic muscle tension or injury, there are usually adhesions (bands of painful, rigid tissue) in muscles, tendons, and ligaments. Adhesions can block circulation and cause pain, limited movement, and inflammation. Deep tissue massage works by physically breaking down these adhesions to relieve pain and restore normal movement.

Shiatsu/Acupressure Massage
Shiatsu is a Japanese word meaning: “finger pressure”. A form of Asian body work, its goal is similar to that of acupuncture or acupressure: to restore the balance of energy (chi) in the body. The shiatsu practitioner, using natural body weight, will apply pressure to specific points along the along the body’s meridians. Through this pressure the energy flowing in the meridians is influenced. Balanced chi promotes physical comfort; improves the immune system; provides for better physical and stronger and more stable emotional health. The client will need to wear loose comfortable clothing for this treatment, as clothing is not removed.
