Sonthi warns media to report correctly

( - Council for National Security chairman Sonthi Boonyaratkalin briefed about 40 executives of newspapers and senior columnists on Wednesday morning to ask for their cooperation on "reporting news correctly".

Gen Sonthi briefed the group on the internal security situation, and requested they report news accurately. He claimed that some details written in newspapers were not based on facts, and they have caused some misunderstandings among people.

He added the CNS noticed that columnists have written comments and criticised situations in different ways, so he would like them to report their stories in the same direction.

Other reporters were not allowed to join the briefing. But they were allowed to listen in via closed-circuit television.
