WASHINGTON - Authorities tell FOX 5 a postal worker was assaulted and robbed in northeast D.C. Tuesday afternoon, and the search is on for the suspects.  It happened along Hawaii Avenue NE, and postal inspectors and D.C. police are at the scene.

Police confirm the male postal worker was taken to a local hospital.  There's no word on his condition, or exactly what was taken from him.

FOX 5's Lauren DeMarco reports there is a second scene along Webster Avenue NE where a postal van was parked.  The scene is very close to a liquor store that was robbed twice recently.  Police say it's far too soon to know if there's any connection.

The suspects are described as two black males.  The first suspect is believed to be in in his late 20s to 30s, weighing about 175 pounds.  He has a dark complexion and is armed with a handgun.  The second suspect is described as a black male with a light complexion who was wearing a ski mask.  He was also armed with a handgun.

Stay with FOX 5 and for updates.
